
Sovereignty, Security and Learning: Round table discussion in Nepal
had raised the issue of the education system and its importance from primary level to secondary level is required to mitigate the emerging threats and also to take
advantage of emerging opportunities. The stimulating discussion had widely covered the issues of security and sovereignty from different spheres of life.
GalliGalli organized a round table discussion program on “Sovereignty, Security and Learning” on 25th January 2020. The discussion was mainly focused on the geopolitical position of Nepal and its crucial role to prevent sovereignty and security through different forms of learning. As the country is sandwiched between two of Asia’s competing powers and have been watched by Superpowers, the new advent of technology, climate change and its increasing centrality in geopolitics would impact on it’s security and sovereignty.
The program was conducted with renowned discussants like Dr. Dinesh Bhattarai, a career foreign service officer served as Nepal’s Ambassador/ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, General Rookmangud Katawal, former Army Chief, Sumana Shrestha and Management Consultant along with renowned experts. ASER-Nepal, The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER)-Nepal, is a Citizen Led Assessment in Nepal. Citizen-led means that all activities are conducted by common citizens.
